Star Spangled Ox
Artist: Stony Brook Elementary – Kathleen Belton and Student Artists
Sponsor: A Friend of Stony Brook Elementary
Design Statement
Stony Brook Elementary School’s ox design is based on a collaborative painting project completed by our 2013-14 fifth grade class. All students in grades one through five had a hand in painting the ox. Upper Elementary Grade Artists designed and painted their own abstract stars over the entire ox.
The Star Spangled Ox reflects the star theme prevalent throughout the school. Our mascot is “Rocky, the All-Star” and numerous stars may be found in many parts of the school. Our behavior code is ★3 – Respectful, Responsible, Reasonable. Our students are truly “All Stars.”
This ox was sold during the online auction for $1,800.
