A Walk in the Woods

by Robin Wolf & Palmer Uhl

Design Statement

‘A Walk in the Woods’ was inspired by nature. The theme ‘Out of Ashes: Art Emerging from Fallen Trees’ stirred both of us. We are honored to produce our ArtSpire from a fallen ash tree that depicts a woodland setting. 2020 has been a difficult year for our world. Many of us have found nature and a walk in the woods bring us peace and solace.

The spire design was executed using a technique called negative painting, creating an undercoat made up of flora found in nature, and then an outline of trees was created with white. Birds fly and rest in the trees.

About the Artists

Robin and Palmer have been friends for a few years. They like to walk together – an inspiration for collaborating on this project.

Robin Wolf is newly retired and anxious to delve into the world of art. She has painted in watercolors for years and is looking to grow and expand her work.

Palmer Uhl is a graphic designer and a fine artist based in Mercer County, NJ. After studying figure drawing and painting for many years, she changed her focus to landscape subjects, inspired by scenes that feel to be a world of their own. Nature has endless scenes of heart-opening beauty, life and death, the contrast of stillness and motion and the unexpected. Palmer works in oil, watercolor, ink and pencil.
