To All Trees with Thanks

by Anne Nixon Ellery

Design Statement

Trees are believed to be guardians providing comfort & solace.

Because trees are rooted so firmly in the earth, receive water through the roots & rain ~ light from the sun, they are an enduring source of earth healing even in concrete squares in a city.

Milagros are small folk charms found throughout Latin America, Peru & Europe. These charms are nailed to sacred objects as part of an act of devotion. Milagros are a reminder of a special need, or a ‘thank you’.

This spire represents a sacred object, an ash tree that has died prematurely, the metal & ceramic objects are Milagros. This is a celebration of trees & a ‘thank you’ for all they do for us ~ Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space are improving Hopewell Valley’s landscape, environment, & quality of life. They also plant tribute trees celebrating a joyous occasion or memorializing a loss, planting native wildflowers & trees offers a lasting tribute that heals our land & promotes an intimate bond between people & nature.

Please Note:  The FoHVOS logo can be artfully removed by the artist, if desired, at no additional cost.

About the Artist

Multidisciplinary designer with an eye for innovation & perfection. I’ve worked in many different countries for a wide variety of clients. Although my skill set is broad, my greatest expertise lays in typography, brand identity design and large format. My knowledge and experience in these areas allow me to deliver creative solutions. My education started in Italy at a very traditional art institute, specializing in fabrics & ceramics. I then returned to England & obtained a degree in Typography & a Masters in Visual Communication. I will try my hand at anything in the field of art & hope to never stop learning 🙂
