A wooden “maypole” was used at dances, performances and other festive events.

About the Artist

Richard Howden, influenced by his mother who was a noted Philadelphia PAFA alumnae, watercolor, oil landscape and portrait artist, has taken a different road, as an abstract expressionist/realist. Depicting scenes from experience and travels, his work can be found in private collections in Seattle, NYC, Beverly Hills, Santiago Chile, Philadelphia and Princeton; including Princeton University. Richard has also explored sculpture and design construction.
