Tethered (flight & memory)

by Team Mallard Rising

Design Statement

“tethered (flight and memory)” is a reflection on the feeling of confinement during a global pandemic. Interspersed are allusions to activities, items, and memories that have brought joy during a crisis. The spire is a mixed-media industrial abstract work. The childlike and whimsical are interwoven with the practical, and all intersect with the harshness of chains and hardware. The wine bottle citronella candle is functional and symbolizes the desire to protect our native ash trees.
