Call for Art:

This Too Shall Pass:

an exhibition of artwork by HV Arts Council members
July 17 to October 29, 2020

The global health pandemic brings with it fear, dislocation, and loss. But it also brings with it a unique opportunity to slow down, reflect, and reprioritize as we stay at home. As artists, we jump at the opportunity of free time to dive into our creative activities, often with a surge of inspiration, during difficult times like these.

We hope This Too Shall Pass will encourage the community to come out of their homes, be rejuvenated by your artwork, and safely break bread together in support of one of our local restaurants.

Exhibition Location & Dates:
The show is scheduled to be on display Friday July 17 to Thurs October 29, 2020 at the Hopewell Valley Bistro & Inn, 15 East Broad Street, Hopewell New Jersey, 08525. For restaurant hours and info, see www.hopewellvalleybistro.com

Artists Reception:
Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Hopewell Bistro & Inn front porch, 7 – 8:30 pm. (Date subject to change, if required). Snacks will be provided by the Bistro and HV Arts Council will host introductions and live music.

Eligibility:
Members of the HV Arts Council are eligible to submit up to two pieces of artwork for consideration. Artwork must be delivered and picked up at the Hopewell Bistro in Hopewell New Jersey.

Show Requirements:
Two-dimensional work, in any medium, created by the artist around the time of the stay-at-home orders.

Artwork should not be larger than 36 inches in any direction, although we can accommodate a few larger pieces. Please indicate the finished size of your work when registering.

Artwork may be juried based on the number of submissions received.

Due to the public nature of the exhibit, please refrain from submitting works that are political, sexual, or religious in nature. Acceptability will be at the discretion of the HV Arts Council.

Artwork must be professionally presented, securely wired, and ready for hanging.

Selected artwork will be accompanied by a paragraph describing the inspiration for your artwork or how making art helped you cope during this challenging time. Paragraphs should be submitted by July 6 or early as a Microsoft Word document, if possible, and sent via email to Kyle.wille@hvartscouncil.org.

Art Sales & Commissions:
All work must be offered for sale with 80% of proceeds going to the artist and 20% to the HV Arts Council. All sale transactions will be handled by the HV Arts Council. Commission checks will be mailed to artists two weeks after the conclusion of the show.
