Pizza Box Portraits: A Family Art Workshop was held at Pennington Public Library, sponsored by the Hopewell Valley Arts Council and led by popular local art teachers Linda Bradshaw and Joslyn Johnson. The first in a series of HV Arts Council events celebrating our eco-friendly theme, The Art of Upcycling.

Beyond the Stampede Art Exhibit: At the Investors Bank Art & Healing Gallery, Capital Health Medical Center, Two Capital Way, Pennington. A reunion exhibition of fifty of the artists who designed and painted the colorful oxen that grace Hopewell Valley. These distinctive oxen started as the Hopewell Valley Arts Council’s first project, The Hopewell Valley Stampede.  Stop in and see the show!

April 14-June 24, 2016

Mount Rose Preserve Open House to celebrate the recent preservation of 320 acres on Carter Road, Hopewell Township. Co-hosted by the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, the Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space and the Hopewell Citizens Group. Featuring children’s art activities with the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, live music, wildlife demonstrations and information on the preserve’s future as a public park.

The Hopewell Valley Arts Council at Pennington Day: A full-day of arts-making, arts-celebrating and arts-enjoying on the lawn at Howe Commons, Main Street, Pennington, focused on The Art of Upcycling.

The Art of Upcycling Pop-Up Gallery at Pennington’s Memorial Day Concert at Howe Commons Come see trash turned into beauty! This exhibit is inspiring, thought-provoking, and environmentally-friendly, with a whole lot of “I Spy” fun thrown in!

Build a Fairy/Gnome House Workshop—Hopewell Valley Come Outside and Play! At Hopewell Train Station. This popular activity, introduced by the Arts Council last year as part of the Hopewell Valley Come Outside and Play initiative, will be returning and even better this year!

Hopewell 125th Community Day Music Festival: Paint a Power StickAt St. Michael’s Preserve. Come to the HV Arts Council table and get to work on our community Upcycling Art Project! All ages can get involved! (The project involves sticks. And paint. You and your kids are gonna love this one!)

Last Pennington Borough Summer Concert: Come paint a Power Stick with the Arts Council! Howe Commons on Main Street. Stop by the HV Arts Council table and contribute your creativity to our community Upcycling Art Project. This art activity involves sticks. And paint. Everyone has fun with this one, from young kids to senior citizens! Also remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy a picnic (There will be food for sale) and the music of the Gravity Hill Band. Beautiful, fun way to spend a late Summer evening: We are delighted to be a part of it!

Unguarded. Untold. Iconic. Afghanistan Through the Lens of Steve McCurry McCurry is best known for his iconic National Geographic photo of the young green-eyed Afghani girl. This special presentation by Bonnie McCurry V’Soske, President of McCurry Studios and sister of world-famous photographer Steve McCurry, will be of interest to both photographers and non photographers as Ms. V’Soske explores how photography has helped the world to understand the story of this complex, war-torn country. Presented in partnership with the James A. Michener Art Museum, the HV Arts Council is delighted to bring this to Hopewell’s own Off-Broadstreet Theatre.

Family Art Workshop: Upcycled Animal Marionettes: The Hopewell Valley Arts Council is happy to bring another up-cycle art project to the Pennington Borough Library.  This time we will use recycled toilet paper tubes and popsicle sticks to make animal marionettes  Use your imagination to create and decorate a puppy, a cat or any four-legged animal you can think of…it’s up to you!

This workshop is intended for ages 6 through adult.  Children will be using scissors for this project.  Adults are welcome.  All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring along a few toilet paper tubes. Spots are limited.

Riverside Symphonia “Christmas Around the World” Orchestral/Choral Concert: HV Arts Council Members Save on Tickets. As part of its 27th season, Riverside Symphonia, conducted by Mariusz Smolij, will bring its annual holiday concert to the Hopewell Valley Performing Arts Center for the first time.  The Hopewell Valley Arts Council is thrilled to introduce the Symphonia to our area and help kick-off your holiday season.
